How it all began ?

Following the acquisition of MERIAL (now Boehringer Ingelheim), the company we had dedicated ourselves to for many years, our professional path took a new direction, igniting our entrepreneurial spirit.

At the same time, a global health crisis shook the world, impacting us all both personally and professionally, and prompting many of us to reconsider our future, aspirations, and goals.

In this context, the opportunity to start our own business emerged, and we decided to embark on promoting value-added products.


A human adventure

The Melchior Santé Animale journey was shaped by a group of friends coming together and bringing their extensive knowledge in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.

Leveraging diverse expertise, the team started meeting regularly in early 2021 to define and bring the project to life.

Over time, the team expanded, welcoming motivated and committed external profiles. Today, Melchior’s team is a group embarking on a challenge they strongly believe in and are proud to present to you.


Our project

Our deep understanding of the veterinary healthcare sector has made us keenly aware of the challenges faced by its key players.

Veterinarians need the right tools to practice under optimal conditions while relying on the products available on the market. Laboratories must strike a balance between R&D investments, innovation, service offerings, and competitive pressures.

Farmers, in turn, must navigate their demanding daily routines as efficiently as possible. Each of these stakeholders is dedicated to animal health, and at Melchior Santé Animale, we are committed to supporting them in this mission.

Our project is unfolding step by step, starting with the introduction of Vitalife, which marks the launch of our company. Once established, we aim to identify high-value products already marketed in Europe that deserve a place in veterinary therapeutic solutions and make them available to French veterinarians.


Why “Melchior Santé Animale”?

Choosing the name of a company is always a delicate and subjective task.
We explored various options – acronyms, combinations of our names, and variations incorporating terms like “Véto,” “Distri,” or “Labo”—but none truly captured the essence of our project. So, we took a step back and asked ourselves:
“Beyond our entrepreneurial drive, our shared passion for the veterinary field, and the joy of working together, what truly connects us in this venture?”

During our discussions, one of us suggested naming the company after the place where we had been gathering since the very beginning—the Melchior Philibert space. The idea immediately resonated with everyone. And so, the name of this Lyonnais merchant became part of our identity.

Beyond its personal significance, Melchior carries deep symbolism, as it is the name of one of the Three Wise Men in the Nativity story. The parallel with our mission was clear: Melchior, the eldest and wisest of the three, brings a precious gift from a distant land, follows his guiding star, and embraces the future with confidence.

Thus, Melchior Santé Animale was born, with a core mission—to provide access to unique veterinary therapeutic solutions.
